About the event

Join us for a special Orca Month youth Zoom event! We will have an exciting opportunity to meet guest author Nora Nickum and hear about her new book "Superpod: Saving the Endangered Orcas of the Pacific Northwest."

Nora Nickum is the ocean policy lead at the Seattle Aquarium and the author of Superpod: Saving the Endangered Orcas of the Pacific Northwest, a book for kids/teens just published by Chicago Review Press. She’ll talk about how she approached writing this new book as a way to help more youth get to know and care about these amazing whales and be inspired to help. Join us to learn what it took to make a book, hear Nora’s stories from the research process, and chime in on a discussion of interesting traits we share with orcas that can help us all feel even more connected and ready to engage others.

If you’re interested in reading the book before or after the event, you can find a copy at many public libraries as well as through our Langley Whale Center gift shop. You can also order it via the publisher’s website (visit https://www.chicagoreviewpress.com/superpod and get 20% off until 6/30 with promo code SUPERPOD20)

As always, our youth events are free to join. However, you must register to get a unique link to login. Meeting Registration - Zoom

We work hard to keep our youth events free and accessible to all. If you'd like to donate to keep our programs going, you may do so at www.orcanetwork.org/donate. Thank you!
